Giant 437-Tonne Transformer to Roll Through Essex, Kent, and Surrey

A colossal electricity transformer, weighing a staggering 437 tonnes and spanning 5.5 metres wide, will be escorted through Essex, Kent, and Surrey tomorrow night (Saturday, November 16). Police will accompany the oversized load to keep traffic moving and ensure public safety.

Route of the Massive Escort

The giant transformer will set off from Tilbury Dock in Essex at around 6 PM. It will traverse the iconic Dartford Crossing via the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge before continuing along this route:

  • M25 southbound to Junction 3
  • M20 and A20 eastbound, then westbound on the M26
  • M25 westbound again
  • Exit at Junction 11, take the A320 to Six Cross Roads Roundabout (navigated in reverse!)
  • A245 towards Weybridge
  • Final leg south on the A318

The mammoth convoy is expected to reach its destination by 1 AM Sunday, November 17.

Expect Delays: Police Warn Motorists to Prepare

Local police warn of temporary traffic disruptions along the route during the evening. Drivers should plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and stay patient as this abnormal load inches its way through.
