Jaji’s Sickening Crime and Shocking Past

Opemipo Jaji, a former Greenwich college student, was locked up for life back in 2013. He stalked a schoolgirl off a bus in Enfield, dragged her into Jubilee Park, and raped her for over three hours. Even worse, this wasn’t his first vile offence. Jaji already had convictions for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old and for possessing indecent images of children.

At the Old Bailey, Judge Mr Justice Singh branded Jaji “manipulative and a liar.” He slapped him with an indefinite life sentence, ordering a minimum eight years behind bars to protect the public.

Jaji’s Failed Appeal: Claims of ‘Racial Bias’ and Harsh Sentence

Fast forward to late 2025, Jaji, now 30, tried to get his life sentence overturned at the Court of Appeal. He argued that media coverage and racial bias had influenced the original ruling. Jaji said the judge ignored his background and that a lengthy sentence, not life, was sufficient to keep the public safe.

Appeal Slammed by Judges: Jaji Poses ‘Escalating Danger’

The Court of Appeal, led by Lord Justice Holgate, Mrs Justice McGowan DBE, and Her Honour Judge Moreland, dismissed Jaji’s claims. Their verdict referenced a damning pre-sentence report warning of his growing threat:

“This is now his third conviction for a sexual offence. Jaji has become increasingly confident and predatory. There’s clear evidence of serious escalation in his risk. His offending shows recklessness, risk-taking, and a pattern of preying on vulnerable young girls.”

Gruesome Details from the Old Bailey Trial

The court heard how the terrified victim tried desperately to escape Jaji after school. She crossed the road three times, desperate to lose him. But Jaji caught her, dragged her to a secluded spot in Jubilee Park, and carried out the brutal assault.

Though he denied rape during the trial, Jaji pleaded guilty before sentencing. His horrific crime and grim track record leave no doubt: he remains a serious danger to society.
