Teacher on Trial Over Chilling Garden Murder Plot
A shocking murder case is set to grip the courts as 50-year-old primary school teacher Fiona Beal faces trial next week. She stands accused of stabbing her partner, Nick Billingham, 42, fatally — and then burying his body in their garden.
Body Dug Up Five Months After Fatal Stabbing
The horror unfolded in Northampton on November 1, 2021, when Mr Billingham was allegedly stabbed in their Moore Street home. His body was found buried in the garden five months later in March 2022, after police launched an intense search involving specialist teams and a cadaver dog.
A post-mortem confirmed the grisly cause of death as a stab wound to the neck.
Dramatic Arrest 200 Miles from Crime Scene
Beal was arrested dramatically at a hotel in Cumbria, around 200 miles from Northampton, just hours before the body was discovered. The teacher appeared via video link from HMP Peterborough at the Old Bailey today, dressed in a black shirt and glasses, confirming her identity.
Trial Set to Start – Denies Murder Charge
The trial kicks off on April 18 at the Old Bailey, before Judge Mark Lucraft, KC. Jury selection begins tomorrow. Beal, who still lives on Moore Street, denies murdering Mr Billingham and remains in custody awaiting trial.
The local community now waits for answers about the events leading to the grim discovery and the full truth behind the tragedy that rocked their neighbourhood.
