Rapist Jailed for Nine Years After Brutal Attacks in Scotland
Traian Covaci’s Nightmare Crimes
Traian Covaci, 23, was sentenced to nine years in prison at Edinburgh High Court. He was found guilty of raping an 18-year-old woman in a Perth nightclub on Halloween 2022. The chilling attack shocked the city.
Bailed Rapist Strikes Again
Despite being out on bail, Covaci committed another violent sexual assault on 11 January 2023. He molested a second woman repeatedly and made vile remarks, with the intent to rape her.
Pensioner’s Home Terrorised
Covaci’s spree didn’t stop with women in clubs. He also barged into a pensioner’s home uninvited. There, he shouted, swore, and threatened her family with aggressive gestures.
Judge Condemns ‘Degrading’ Attacks
“Covaci smirked at me as I ran away,” recalled the first victim.
The judge slammed Covaci’s actions as “particularly degrading and humiliating,” stressing how vulnerable the victims were. Despite no previous sexual offence record, Covaci was labelled immature and dangerous.
Serious Restrictions Clamp Down on Covaci
- Indefinite registration on the sex offenders’ register
- Non-harassment orders to protect victims
- Two years supervised community release after prison time
Justice has hit hard, but the trauma from Covaci’s attacks will haunt his victims for years to come.
