Tragic Crash on A249: Man in 30s Dies After Horror Collision Near Stockbury

Fatal Crash Rocks Stockbury

Kent Police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses after a fatal smash on the A249 near Stockbury claimed the life of a man in his 30s.

The serious collision happened at around 10.05pm on Tuesday, 25 February 2025. It involved a silver Land Rover Discovery and a black BMW 1 Series close to the Chalky Road junction.

Passenger Dies a Month After Crash

Emergency teams, including South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue, rushed to the scene. Sadly, a passenger in the BMW was critically injured and airlifted to hospital.

Despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries a month later on 25 March.

The Land Rover’s driver, a man in his 40s, also suffered serious injuries but has since been discharged from hospital.

Police Hunt Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Kent’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is probing the crash and wants anyone who saw the cars before the smash to step forward.

  • Officers want to hear from anyone who saw the black BMW heading from the M20 junction 7 roundabout up Detling Hill towards Sittingbourne before the crash.
  • They’re also keen on information about the silver Land Rover travelling the opposite way before taking the slip road to Chalky Road junction.
