Woman Charged Over Gruesome Stabbing Death in Northampton

Northamptonshire Police have named the stabbing victim as 42-year-old Nicholas Billingham. A post-mortem confirmed he died from a fatal stab wound to the neck.

48-Year-Old Arrested and Charged

Fiona Beal, 48, from Moore Street, Kingsley, was charged with the murder of Billingham. She was arrested at a hotel in Cumbria on 16 March and appeared at Northampton magistrates the next day.

Beal has been remanded and will face Northampton Crown Court on 22 March. Her next pre-trial hearing is set for 19 April.

  • Police launched a major search of Beal’s home after her arrest.
  • Forensic teams and a cadaver dog uncovered a body buried in the garden last Saturday.
  • The body was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for post-mortem examination by a Home Office pathologist.

The killing is believed to have happened between 30 October and 10 November last year. An inquest remains on hold while criminal proceedings continue.
