Brutal Rochester Attacker Slams 18 Years Behind Bars
A violent thug from Rochester has been slammed with an 18-year jail term for a terrifying spree of assaults across Medway. Ryan Miskin, 36, of Wickham Street, faced Maidstone Crown Court on 10 June 2021 where he admitted 11 chilling offences.
Knife Attacks, Break-In, and Carjacking Attempt
Miskin’s rampage unfolded between July 19 and August 20, 2020. His most shocking crime saw him break into a Strood home on 1 Road while three strangers were having dinner. He shoved a woman aside and punched one man square in the face. Then, armed with a knife, he slashed another man across the face and neck before fleeing.
Minutes later, Miskin targeted a BMW parked on Northcote Road. Threatening two men with a screwdriver, he stabbed the driver in the head and slashed the passenger’s face, neck, and wrist with a knife. Despite his vicious attack, he failed to steal the car or the keys and escaped empty-handed.
Arson and Unprovoked Attacks Add to the Crime Spree
The court also heard how Miskin set fire to a woman’s car during separate incidents in Maidstone and Rochester on July 21. He assaulted the woman and caused criminal damage, admitting charges of arson, assault by beating, and criminal damage.
In another brutal assault on July 19, Miskin drove a motorcycle into a man in Gillingham Park. An argument erupted before Miskin slashed the victim’s face and arm with a knife and sped off. He pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possessing an offensive weapon.
Detective Warns: Miskin a Dangerous Threat
Ryan Miskin was arrested on August 21, 2020, and charged shortly after. Alongside his jail term, he received a five-year extended licence upon release. Detective Constable Taylar Pronger said:
“Miskin is a violent offender who committed a number of serious offences on several victims. I have no doubt that had we not apprehended him and charged him, he would have continued to behave in this manner and there would be a lot more victims.”
“He has quite rightly been handed a lengthy custodial sentence reflective of the gravity of his offending. I hope it sends a clear message to others and acts as a deterrent.”
