Sainsbury’s Worker Charged in Cowes Stabbing Attack
Police have charged a former Sainsbury’s employee after a late-night stabbing in Cowes left a young man injured. The attack happened just after midnight on Tuesday, 24 July near Love Lane and Windmill Close.
Man Stabbed Twice in the Back
An 18-year-old local was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital with two stab wounds to his back. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening, but he remains in hospital for treatment.
Ex-Supermarket Worker Facing Serious Charges
Macauley Watterston, 23, from Laundry Lane, Newport, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was a former Sainsbury’s supermarket worker. Watterston has been remanded to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday, 27 July.
Three Others Arrested and Released
- A 23-year-old man from Carisbrooke was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He has since been released without charge but remains under investigation.
- A 23-year-old Newport man was arrested for causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of cannabis. He is also released without charge but under investigation.
- A 23-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He too was released without charge yet remains under investigation.
