Footballer Jailed for Raping Woman Who Let Him Charge His Phone
Niall Geany, a footballer from Kirkliston near Edinburgh, has been locked up for three years and nine months. He was found guilty of raping a woman who took pity on him and let him into her home just to charge his phone. The grim court case unfolded at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Good Samaritan’s Kindness Turned Into Nightmare
The victim had shared a taxi with Geany after a night out. When he got stranded near her house, she kindly offered him shelter and a phone charger. But instead of thanking her, Geany made unwanted sexual advances—even though he knew she was in a relationship. The woman repeatedly said “no” as he ignored her refusals and attacked her.
Footballer Convicted and Slapped with Tough Sentence
Geany’s vile assault left the woman injured and visibly shaken, witnesses revealed. Following a trial earlier this year, he was convicted of rape causing injury. The judge didn’t hold back—Geany was ordered to join the sex offenders register and slapped with a lifetime non-harassment order to protect the victim.
He will serve his sentence initially in a young offenders’ institution before being transferred to an adult prison.
