Brutal Ex-Terror Sentenced to 28 Months for Assault and Intimidation

Jailed for Smashing Cheek and Threatening with Machete

Terry, 26, has been slammed with a total 28-month sentence at Norwich Crown Court for a string of sick attacks on his ex-partners. The punishment includes nine months for assault causing actual bodily harm, nine months for carrying a bladed weapon, 10 months for witness intimidation, and additional terms for common assault, sharing private photos, and using threatening language — most of which run concurrently. A charge of perverting the course of justice will also hang over him.

Shocking Hospital Attack

The horrifying assaults came to light after the victim’s father called police on February 23, 2020. Terry, now held at HMP Bedford, had left the woman with a fractured cheek so severe she had to have surgery to stop her losing sight in one eye. The attack — at the couple’s shared home in Thetford — left her with a black eye, bruised and swollen lips, plus scratches on her face and neck. They’d only been dating four months.

Chilling Evidence & CCTV Footage

Police arrested Terry days later, charging him with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Bodycam footage showed the victim’s injuries and damage Terry caused to their home, including smashed TV screens. CCTV captured the victim attempting to flee the house at 8pm, only to be grabbed and dragged back. Officers collected blood-stained clothes and other crucial evidence.

Machete Threat Outside Victim’s Family Home

Six months later, Terry showed up at the victim’s sister’s house, furious over Facebook posts. At 9pm, he shouted abuse outside before spotting the victim crying in his car. Terrified, she escaped inside while Terry grabbed a large machete from the back seat. He fled when family members arrived, but the menace left a lasting terror.

Previous Abuse & Private Photo Sharing

Terry’s violent record dates back to October 2019 with another ex-girlfriend. That abuse escalated from verbal threats to choking and hair-pulling during a night drinking in Norwich. After friends intervened, Terry returned days later to hurl more abuse and try to kick down her front door. He also shared private photos of the victim on WhatsApp between October and November 2019.

“The dogged and thorough work carried out by officers has helped put Terry behind bars for vicious assaults on his former partners,” said DC Mark Tate.

Police Fight to Protect Vulnerable Victims

Domestic abuse cases are among the hardest to prosecute. Victims often withdraw statements out of fear or vulnerability. Detective Tate added, “They fear reprisals if they complain to police. This case shows the importance of persistent police work to bring offenders to justice.”
