London Man Jailed for 23 Years After Horrific Rape Ordeal
Alan Mackey Sentenced for Multiple Crimes
Alan Mackey, 37, from Croydon, has been handed a hefty 23-year prison sentence after being convicted of a string of horrific offences. Following a trial at Kingston Crown Court, Mackey was found guilty of six counts of rape, alongside fraud, coercive control, blackmail, assault causing bodily harm, and theft.
Victim Held Against Her Will
The terrifying case came to light when the victim was reported missing by her family on 7 June 2019. Police tracked her down the very next day at a hotel in Richmond, where she revealed she had been held captive and subjected to prolonged sexual and physical abuse by Mackey—who was known to her and had previously threatened her.
During her ordeal, she suffered facial injuries from the assault. Mackey even stole her bank card to pay for the hotel room and shop items before his arrest on 8 June 2019.
Police Praise Sentence, Victim Speaks Out
Detective Inspector Laura Semple from the Met’s South West Safeguarding team called Mackey “a dangerous offender” and welcomed the stiff prison term. “We hope this sends a message to others suffering in silence to come forward,” she said.

The victim expressed relief after the verdict: “This whole process has had a severely detrimental effect on both my life and that of my family. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome and could not have got through the process without the incredible support of the police—especially PC Vivian Sutton and Detective Constable Siobhan Dodge.”
She added, “I can now look forward to the future and try to put this all behind me.”
