Wig-Wearing Shoplifter Busted and Jailed After Dorset Spree
Serial thief Rachael Cole, 44, has been slammed with a bizarre wig ban after a cheeky shoplifting spree in Hampshire.
Cole faced Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Friday 5 December, admitting to four counts of theft. Over just three weeks, she swiped nearly £1,000 worth of goods from shops in Hook and Liphook.
Failed Wig Disguise Lands Thief Behind Bars
In a desperate bid to dodge the law, Cole tried to hoodwink staff by wearing a wig while nicking seven bags of dog food from Sainsbury’s in Liphook.
The ploy didn’t work. She was handed a 36-week prison sentence — which includes an activated suspended sentence — and hit with a strict two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Wigs, Wares, and Wide Bans: Tough New Restrictions on Cole
- Cole is now banned from wearing wigs, hairpieces, or any face coverings that hide her identity inside shops.
- She’s forbidden from entering all Sainsbury’s and Tesco stores in the UK.
- A total ban from the B&M store in Bordon is also in place.
Additional conditions aim to keep Cole out of trouble for good. Looks like the wig won’t save her next time.
