Met Police Officer Jailed Over Off-Duty Assaults
PC Rachael Brown Found Guilty
A serving Met Police officer has been handed a suspended jail sentence after being convicted of assaulting someone she knew while off the clock. PC Rachael Brown, from the Met’s North West Command Unit, was found guilty of two counts of assault. The incidents happened on October 15, 2022, in Essex, and November 3, 2022, in Haringey – both times when Brown was off duty.
Prison Sentence Suspended, Restraining Order Issued
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards launched an investigation that led to Brown being charged on July 11, 2024. She was convicted at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on December 19, 2024, and sentenced on February 18, 2025. Brown received an 18-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months and a two-year restraining order was imposed.
Met Police Slams Officer’s Conduct
Chief Superintendent Sara Leach, who oversees policing in north-west London, slammed the officer’s actions. “There is no place in the Met for officers who commit criminal offences. Any allegations will be thoroughly investigated and, where appropriate, brought before the courts,” she declared.
Misconduct Proceedings Underway
PC Brown was suspended following the charges in July 2024. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that misconduct proceedings are now underway following her conviction. This case comes amid ongoing efforts by the Met to clamp down on police misconduct and restore public trust under intense scrutiny.
