Met Police Officer Fired Over Shocking Misconduct
Detective Constable Mohamed Hassen has been sacked after a four-day misconduct hearing exposed his unacceptable behaviour. The hearing, held from June 3 to June 6, found that DC Hassen breached several key professional standards.
Officer Broke Code of Conduct
An independent panel chaired by a legal expert ruled that Hassen violated critical standards:
- Authority, Respect, and Courtesy
- Equality and Diversity
- Discreditable Conduct
Between October 2021 and June 2022, DC Hassen made inappropriate, offensive, and sexual comments towards two female colleagues. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards launched an investigation after complaints were filed in November 2022.
Senior Officer Condemns Conduct
Chief Superintendent Sara Leach, overseeing policing in northwest London, slammed Hassen’s behaviour:
“No one should come to work and be subjected to the kind of language used by this officer. Everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect in the workplace, and it is clear that DC Hassen failed to uphold this basic standard. His dismissal is a necessary step to hold him accountable for his actions.”
Barred From Police Work for Good
As a consequence of his dismissal, DC Hassen will be placed on the Barred List maintained by the College of Policing. This blacklists individuals from working for any police force, local policing bodies, or related oversight organisations across the UK.
This move sends a strong message: misconduct of this nature will not be tolerated in the Met Police or any policing body.
