Seven Arrested After Savage Shop Brawl in Wood Green Leaves 11 Cops Hurt

Chaos erupted on High Road, Wood Green, on Tuesday afternoon when a gang of seven – including kids as young as 12 – clashed with police during an attempted shop theft. Eleven Met officers were left injured in the violent confrontation.

The drama unfolded around 4:53pm on 16 July. Officers were called to reports of a large group trying to steal from a busy North London retail store. On arrival, they were met with immediate hostility.

Officers faced assaults and public disorder as the crowd turned aggressive. Eleven officers were hurt but none needed hospital treatment thanks to swift Ambulance Service response.

  • 13-year-old boy – suspected of racially aggravated public order offence and criminal damage
  • 13-year-old girl – suspected of affray
  • 16-year-old boy – suspected of assaulting a police officer
  • Others – suspected of common assault and criminal damage

Police have charged the seven individuals with offences including affray, assault, and criminal damage.
