Sex Offender Jailed for Sex Act in Front of Kids in Peterborough
A registered sex offender, Gary Smith, 50, has been locked up after performing a sexual act in Peterborough city centre – shocking onlookers as children were present.
Repeat Offender Flouts Orders for Years
Smith has been on the Sex Offenders Register since December 2013 and was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) barring him from certain public spaces. Despite this, he repeatedly ignored restrictions, causing alarm in leisure centres, schools, colleges, and public parks.
Quick Police Action Follows Public Tip-Off
On 14 May at 2:15pm, a member of the public raised the alarm. Officers rushed to the scene and identified Smith. He was found lying next to a gravestone and was arrested on the spot for indecent exposure and breaching the CBO.
Judge Hands Down 19 Months for ‘Disgusting’ Behaviour
At Peterborough Crown Court, Smith pleaded guilty to outraging public decency and breaking the CBO. He was sentenced to 19 months behind bars. The court heard he has five convictions for public decency offences over five years.
PC Rebecca Risebrow slammed Smith’s “truly disgusting” conduct and “repeated disregard for court orders”.
