Birmingham Man Slapped with 21-Year Jail Term for Multiple Rapes
A vicious predator from Aston, Birmingham, has been locked up for 21 years. Marcus Newton, 27, was convicted at Wolverhampton Crown Court on July 26 for a string of horrific sex crimes. He raped a woman multiple times and sexually abused two children, including historic offences.
Brave Victims Bring Monster to Justice
West Midlands Police revealed that Newton’s shocking crimes only came to light after his three brave victims stepped forward. The charges included two counts of raping a child under 13, one count of sexually assaulting a child under 13, and three counts of rape.
The first victim, a man abused as a young boy, contacted police to report the attacks, describing the lasting damage to his mental health. Then two women came forward—one raped by Newton in 2018 and 2019, and another who endured repeated rape over four years as a child. Police confirmed the latter’s testimony with damning evidence from messages, photos, and footage found on her phone.
Harsh Sentence Sends Clear Warning
Newton was sentenced to 21 years behind bars and is now on the Sex Offenders Register for life. Detective Sergeant Sareena Puri from the Adult Investigation Team said the sentence sends a strong signal that such appalling behaviour will be punished.
“Newton is a sexual predator who raped and sexually abused his vulnerable victims. Two of them were under the age of 13 at the time,” said Det Sgt Puri. “We are pleased with the sentence which sends out a clear message that people who behave in this appalling way will be caught and will spend many years behind bars.”
Victims’ Courage Praised, Police Urge Others to Speak Out
Detective Sergeant Puri praised the courage of Newton’s three victims for coming forward and giving evidence in court.
“Their bravery in giving evidence in court has to be commended. Newton has shown no signs of remorse for what he has done and for the impact his offending has had on the lives of his three victims,” she said.
She also urged other survivors of sexual abuse and rape to seek help. “We are here to help and listen,” Det Sgt Puri added.
Where to Get Help
West Midlands Police encourage anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or rape to come forward. The force is committed to supporting victims and securing justice.
