Sheffield Man Slapped with Nearly 10 Years for Shocking Rape and Robbery
Haseeb Khalil, 27, from Flaxby Road, Sheffield, has been jailed for nine years and nine months after a brutal spree of crimes including rape. The sentencing was handed down at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, May 24, 2024.
Violent Crime Spree Unfolded in Darnall
On November 27, 2023, police rushed to reports of two men seen armed with a gun and knife in Darnall, Sheffield. They walked into a scene of horror — a robbery where a woman was also raped. Investigators quickly seized an item of Khalil’s clothing from the scene.
That same day, officers searched Khalil’s home and scoured CCTV footage. By December 1, Khalil was charged with rape, sexual assault, robbery, and weapons offences. His sidekick, Amaad Yaseen, 27, of Stainforth Road, also faced robbery charges.
More Than Just Rape: The Full List of Khalil’s Crimes
- Two counts of robbery
- Possession of an imitation firearm with intent to rob
- Possession of a bladed knife in public
- Theft from a shop
All committed on the same day as the rape.
Yaseen was sentenced to 20 months and four weeks for theft, carrying a knife, and failing to surrender to police. Remaining charges related to robbery and weapons offences will lie on file.
Detective Vows Justice for Victims
“Khalil’s shocking crime spree has caused untold misery for his victims,” said Detective Constable Gareth Rees. “I am relieved both he and his co-accused are behind bars. The nature of his crimes, in which he raped and robbed his victim, is truly depraved. He’ll spend nearly a decade to reflect on the pain he caused.”
