Shepherd’s Bush Man Nabbed After M25 Hit-and-Run
A hit-and-run driver from Shepherd’s Bush has finally been caught over a smash on the M25 last year. Forensic evidence from the car’s deployed airbag blew his cover wide open.
Midnight Crash on M25 Leaves Van Overturned
The drama unfolded just after midnight on January 12, 2023. A grey BMW 520D was racing along the M25 near junction 27, heading towards the M11 on the Essex border, when it smashed into an Iveco Daily van. The impact was brutal — the van flipped onto its side, leaving the driver with minor injuries. The BMW driver shot off, leaving chaos behind.
Forensics Pinpoint Driver Despite Denial
Though the crash wasn’t reported straight away, police tracked down the BMW’s registered owner. He insisted he’d sold the car days earlier and fingered some unknown buyer. But forensic analysis told a different story. Saliva found on the BMW’s airbag matched 22-year-old Iram Boubekeur of Shepherd’s Bush.
At an August 2023 court hearing, Boubekeur admitted several offences: failing to nominate the driver, hit-and-run, careless driving, and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous spot.
Community Service and Driving Ban for Boubekeur
At Colchester Magistrates’ Court on February 22, Boubekeur was slammed with 300 hours of community service, a nine-month driving ban, and a £224 fine for fleeing the scene and failing to report the accident within 24 hours. He also picked up six penalty points for refusing to name the driver.
PC Joe Goodwin said, “Iram Boubekeur went to great lengths to avoid being identified and denied the offence until the last minute. He claims to have panicked and fled but tried to dodge police. The forensic evidence made it impossible to deny he was behind the wheel.”
Authorities stress that dodging responsibility after a crash won’t be tolerated. Road users must stick to traffic laws or face serious repercussions.
