Notorious Shoplifter Banned from Borehamwood for Three Years
Matthew Gladwish, 44, a drifter with no fixed address, has been slapped with a three-year ban from Borehamwood following a spree of thefts that rattled the town.
Criminal Behaviour Order Bars Gladwish from Key Areas
Last Monday (22 September), St Albans Magistrates’ Court imposed a strict Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) on Gladwish. The order forbids him from entering Borehamwood — except for two approved monthly visits to a designated family address.
He is now banned from crucial shopping and travel hotspots, including:
- Leeming Road
- The Boulevard shopping park
- Shenley Road between the railway station roundabout and Tesco roundabout
Defying the order is a criminal offence that could land Gladwish back behind bars.
20 Weeks in Prison and Crackdown on Repeat Offender
Gladwish received a 20-week prison sentence in August after pleading guilty to three counts of shop theft.
“Gladwish has a long history of offending, causing misery for residents and businesses in Borehamwood. This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated, and we’re pleased to have secured this order. I hope it provides some much-needed respite,” said Claire Morris from the Hertsmere Community Safety Unit.
The community is urged to dial 999 immediately if Gladwish is spotted breaching his ban. Authorities are keeping a close eye to protect Borehamwood from further trouble.
