Violent Thug Enrico Tenaglia Locked Up for Stabbing, Robbery and Police Assaults
Between 2019 and 2021, Enrico Tenaglia terrorised Medway and his hometown with savage crimes. His spree included stabbing a man with a broken bottle, snatching a woman’s car, and viciously attacking four Kent Police officers.
He also flagrantly ignored a restraining order on two occasions. Once his prison sentence ends, Tenaglia will face an extended three-year licence supervision.
Brutal Pub Stabbing Sparks Fear
On 10 August 2019, Tenaglia struck inside a Gillingham pub. He chatted for hours with a man claiming to be an old acquaintance. When the victim tried to end the night, they agreed to keep drinking back at a home on Livingstone Road.
But tension escalated when the victim felt uncomfortable with Tenaglia’s behaviour towards a woman. The victim told him to leave.
Outside, an argument blew up. Enraged, Tenaglia plunged a broken glass bottle deep into the man’s arm. Not finished, he kicked the front door off its hinges before vanishing into the night.
Car Snatching & Window Smash in Rochester
Just over a month later, on 20 September 2019, Tenaglia struck again. He targeted a man he knew in Rochester, smashing a window with a paving slab after being denied entry.
Sticking his head through the broken glass, he demanded the victim meet him.
Amid the chaos, a woman left the building only to have her car keys snatched in a flash.
Knife Threat & Police Assault in Edenbridge
On the night of 24/25 September 2021, cops were called to a violent dispute at an Edenbridge address. Tenaglia, who was forbidden from being there due to a restraining order, was armed with a knife.
He ripped cupboards off the wall after finding a shoe belonging to another man. When officers arrived, he fled to a nearby associate’s home.
At first, he complied, but suddenly launched a savage attack on an arresting officer. Three other cops rushed to help. One officer was bitten so hard the skin split wide open. Police had to deploy a taser to subdue Tenaglia.
Judge Throws the Book at Dangerous Offender
On 4 March 2022 at Maidstone Crown Court, Tenaglia pleaded guilty to a terrifying list of crimes:
- Grievous bodily harm
- Robbery
- Wounding a police officer with intent
- Actual bodily harm against two police officers
- Assaulting a police officer
- Two breaches of restraining order
- Four counts of criminal damage
- Possessing a bladed article
- Failing to surrender to custody
Detective Constable Amy Jeffrey said: “Tenaglia’s excessive violence makes him a serious danger to the public. He caused immense harm and showed zero remorse. The public are safer with him behind bars now. I hope his victims find justice in this verdict.”
PC Callum Tuckett added: “The attacks on our officers were completely unacceptable. I’m glad Tenaglia has been held accountable and dealt with firmly.”
