South London rapper ‘Loski’ jailed after being caught with loaded revolver in Uber. Jyrelle O’Connor, 23, known as Loski, was found guilty today (Wednesday, 4 January) of possessing a loaded firearm following a three-year Met Police probe into gang violence and gun crime.
Arrest after Uber stop reveals loaded revolver
On 9 April 2019, unarmed officers pulled over an Uber on the A40 St Andrews Road, W3. O’Connor was sitting in the front passenger seat. A search uncovered a small black sock hidden under the seat – inside was a loaded 4mm Flobert calibre revolver. His DNA was found on the gun’s loading face, proving he’d handled the weapon.
O’Connor was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. Additional charges covered prohibited firearm possession, ammunition possession, and cannabis possession.
Gang ties and a deadly feud exposed
The jury heard O’Connor was a key figure in a violent south London gang locked in brutal disputes with rivals in Brixton. Officers linked him to the 2018 stabbing death of his friend Latwaan Griffiths after finding his DNA on items connected to the attack.
O’Connor denied the charges, claiming a drug dealer forced him to hold the gun. The jury saw through this and unanimously convicted him.
Detective vows to keep guns off the street
“This has been a trying case, but I’m pleased the jury didn’t fall for his lies,” said Detective Constable Andy Snazell of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command. “Removing this lethal weapon from the streets could save lives. O’Connor was obsessed with guns and gang life, searching online for firearms before his arrest. His social media influence doesn’t excuse his crimes.”
O’Connor faces sentencing at Croydon Crown Court on Friday, 6 January.
