South London Rapper ‘Loski’ Jailed for Carrying Loaded Revolver
Jyrelle O’Connor, better known as rapper ‘Loski’, 23, was found guilty today of possessing a loaded revolver after a high-profile trial. The verdict comes after a gripping three-year investigation into gang violence and firearms in south London.
The Arrest That Uncovered a Loaded Revolver
On 9 April 2019, O’Connor was caught trying to evade police by entering an Uber under a false name. The unarmed officers stopped the vehicle on the A40 in West London. A search revealed a small black sock hidden under the front passenger seat – where O’Connor had been sitting – containing a loaded 4mm Flobert calibre revolver.
O’Connor was charged with multiple offences including possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession while prohibited, and possessing class B drugs. Forensics confirmed his DNA on the revolver’s loading face, a part only accessible by opening the weapon.
Denial Falls Flat – Jury Rejects ‘Forced to Hold Gun’ Claim
“This has been a trying and challenging case with many twists and turns, but I’m pleased the jury found O’Connor guilty of his crimes and I’d like to thank them for seeing through his lies and excuses.” – Detective Constable Andy Snazell
O’Connor claimed he was forced to hold the gun after threats from a drug dealer against him and his mother. The jury dismissed this defence unanimously.
The rapper was initially stopped as part of an investigation into the 2018 stabbing death of his friend Latwaan Griffiths, linked to gang clashes in Brixton. O’Connor’s DNA and fingerprints connected him to items found at the tragic crime scene.
Gang Lifestyle and Weapons Obsession
During the trial, it emerged O’Connor was obsessed with guns and gang culture. Police uncovered numerous Google searches on firearms and ammunition on his phone before the arrest.
Detective Snazell warned: “O’Connor was an influential figure with many social media followers. No fame or fortune justifies these serious crimes. I’m confident the judge will deliver a fitting sentence.”
Jyrelle O’Connor faces sentencing at Croydon Crown Court on Friday, 6 January.
