A 20-year-old man has confessed to killing 24-year-old Michael Jenkins in a violent money dispute that ended in a brutal stabbing in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire.
Alfie Whelan Pleads Guilty to Culpable Homicide
Alfie Whelan, initially charged with murder at Glasgow’s High Court, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of culpable homicide due to provocation. During the June showdown last year, Whelan stabbed Jenkins 13 times with a dagger.
Tragic Scene as Victim Stumbles into Street Screaming for Help
Prosecutor Chris McKenna revealed that Jenkins, who was in Fraserburgh for work, managed to stagger onto the street crying for help after the savage attack. Despite emergency services’ best efforts, Jenkins died at the scene.
Dispute Turned Fatal, No Claim of Self-Defence
Defence barrister Mark Stewart KC told the court the fight started over money but escalated into violence on both sides. However, he admitted that self-defence was not a valid argument in the case.
