Taxi Driver Jailed for Rape After Dark Winchester Ride
A taxi driver from Southampton has been locked up for 12 years after a chilling attack on a passenger in Winchester.
Ferham Khan’s horrific crime
In September 2017, Ferham Khan, 29, picked up a 33-year-old woman from Broadway, Winchester, around 1am. The woman, heading home after a night out with friends, trusted Khan to get her safely home.
But Khan had other plans. He pulled the taxi over at an unknown spot, believing the woman had fallen asleep, and brutally sexually assaulted her inside the cab.
Victim speaks out
“On that night, I did as any young woman would. I went out with friends and I took a taxi home. What happened in the taxi destroyed me. That man shattered my world into tiny pieces. The pain and suffering I have endured because of what he did to me has left me broken.”
Justice served at Southampton Crown Court
After a seven-day trial, a jury found Khan guilty of rape by unanimous verdict. The judge handed down a 12-year prison sentence, sending a strong message that such vile abuse will not be tolerated.
