Man Charged with Rape After Maidstone Lockmeadow Attack

A 28-year-old man has been charged with rape following a shocking incident near Maidstone’s Lockmeadow leisure complex.

Attack Reported on September 2

The alleged sexual assault happened on the evening of Monday, September 2, 2024. A woman was reportedly attacked by an unknown man in the area.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Gytis Lalinauskas, from Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, was arrested on the evening of Saturday, September 7. He faces charges of rape and theft of the victim’s laptop.

But that’s not all. Lalinauskas is also charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply and carrying an offensive weapon—unrelated offences revealed during the investigation.

Custody and Court Appearance

Lalinauskas is currently held in custody and is set to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 9.

Second Suspect Released

Another man, aged 37, who was arrested earlier on September 4, has since been released without charge.

The police continue their inquiry and urge anyone with information to come forward to assist the ongoing investigation.
