Soldier Stabbed in Gillingham: Suspect in Custody
A man has been remanded in custody after a soldier was seriously assaulted in Gillingham. Anthony Esan, 24, from Mooring Road, Rochester, appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday 25 July 2024.
Charges: Attempted Murder and Weapon Possession
Esan faces charges of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He will stay in custody until his next court appearance at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday 22 August.
Stabbing Incident in Sally Port Gardens
The attack happened on Tuesday 23 July around 5.55pm in Sally Port Gardens. The victim, a soldier in uniform in his 40s, sustained stab wounds during the incident.
Victim’s Condition: Serious but Stable
The soldier remains in hospital with serious but stable injuries. Police continue to investigate and appeal for witnesses to come forward.
