Soldier Stabbed in Gillingham: Suspect in Custody
A man has been remanded in custody after a soldier was seriously assaulted in Gillingham. Anthony Esan, 24, from Mooring Road, Rochester, appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday 25 July 2024.
Charges: Attempted Murder and Weapon Possession
Esan faces charges of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He will stay in custody until his next court appearance at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday 22 August.
Stabbing Incident in Sally Port Gardens
The attack happened on Tuesday 23 July around 5.55pm in Sally Port Gardens. The victim, a soldier in uniform in his 40s, sustained stab wounds during the incident.
Victim’s Condition: Serious but Stable
The soldier remains in hospital with serious but stable injuries. Police continue to investigate and appeal for witnesses to come forward.
