A 17-year-old boy was stabbed outside Birmingham Bullring last Thursday evening, sparking a swift police response. Now, three suspects – including a teenager – have been formally charged.
Blade Attack Outside Iconic Bullring
West Midlands Police rushed to the scene just after 8pm on 13 November, near the famous Bull statue by the shopping centre. The victim was stabbed during a disorder and was quickly taken to hospital.
Thankfully, the teen’s wounds are not life-threatening or permanently damaging, but the attack has left the area on edge.
Five Arrested, Three Face Serious Charges
Police acted fast, scouring CCTV and gathering witness evidence. Five suspects were arrested in total:
- 18-year-old Mussa Gul
- 18-year-old Zain Hussain
- A 15-year-old boy (name withheld due to age)
These three are charged with wounding with intent, affray, and possession of a bladed article. All remain in custody and are set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 November.
The other two suspects, aged 18 and 22, were bailed under strict conditions.
Police Ramp Up Patrols to Protect Shoppers
We understand why these incidents have caused concern for visitors to the city – and people that live and work here,” said West Midlands Police.
To reassure the public, police have boosted high-visibility patrols across Birmingham city centre, especially near crowded spots like the Frankfurt Christmas Market.
Officers will be on round-the-clock duty to keep the city safe for everyone shopping, working, and visiting in the run-up to Christmas.
