Murder Probe Launched After Man Dies From Head Injury in Hounslow
Man Found with Life-Threatening Head Injury
Police have opened a murder investigation after 61-year-old Mehmood Shamshi died from a severe head injury in Hounslow. He was discovered with a critical head injury on Staines Road at around 10:30pm on Tuesday, 17 August.
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service treated Mehmood at the scene before rushing him to a west London hospital. Despite their efforts, he tragically passed away in the early hours of Saturday, 21 August.
Teenager Arrested Over Deadly Assault
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation. A post mortem on 25 August confirmed the cause of death as head injury.
On Saturday, 28 August, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has since been released on bail and is due to return to police in September.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage
Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin said: “Mehmood’s family and friends have been left devastated by his death. We are working hard to piece together what happened leading to the fatal injuries.”
“We urgently want to speak to anyone who was near Staines Road, close to Cromwell Road, between 10:30pm and 11:30pm on 17 August. Drivers with dash cam footage are especially encouraged to come forward if they saw anything suspicious.”
