Two Robberies Rock Gillingham Streets
A 15-year-old boy from Chatham has been charged after a string of daring robberies shook Gillingham this summer and autumn. The offences took place on Friday, 2 August, and Sunday, 6 October 2024.
On 2 August, two teens were threatened in Wood Street, Gillingham, where one had their mobile phone snatched. Just over two months later, on 6 October, a youngster was menaced in Canterbury Street and robbed of his e-scooter.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
Following a prompt investigation, police arrested the suspect on Tuesday, 8 October. He now faces charges of two counts of robbery and one attempted robbery.
Youth Court Bail and Next Steps
The 15-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court, sitting as a youth court, on Thursday, 10 October. He was granted bail and must return to court on 31 October for the next hearing.
Police continue efforts to tackle youth crime in the Medway area, urging anyone with further information to come forward.
