Young Driver Henry Cox Banned After High-Speed Police Smash
Henry Cox, just 18, has been slapped with a two-year driving ban following a reckless crash that saw him smash into a police car during a high-speed chase in Gosport.
Police Chase Ends in Crash
The drama kicked off on 6 May when Cox, behind the wheel of a Ford Transit flatbed, ignored police orders to stop along Eastbourne Avenue. The chase was a dangerous spectacle—speeding, reckless corner-cutting, and chaos—ending violently as Cox collided head-on with a police vehicle travelling the opposite way.
The crash caused serious damage to the police car, signalling just how out of control the situation had become.
Flight on Foot and Multiple Charges
After the collision, Cox ditched his vehicle near St Vincent College and tried to run from the scene on foot. He was swiftly caught and hit with a slew of charges including:
- Dangerous driving
- Driving without insurance
- Driving while disqualified
- Possession of cannabis
Court Hands Down Tough Sentence
Cox faced portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth Crown Court on 8 November and was found guilty on all counts. Along with the driving ban, he must retake his driving test once the ban lifts.
The court also imposed a two-year Community Order: 200 hours of unpaid work and 30 days of Rehabilitation Activities, plus £500 in costs.
Justice has been served, and Cox’s reckless ride has come to a crashing halt.
