Shoplifting Spree Hits Tesco and Co-op in Kent
Kent Police are hunting after a string of bold thefts at Tesco on Farleigh Hill. Between 18 August and 25 September 2023, thieves made off with goods worth over £500. Shockingly, two staff members were assaulted while trying to stop the suspects escaping without paying.
Staff Left Bruised and Abused
On 4 September, trouble flared at 1 Loose Road when two employees were allegedly attacked trying to block a man from entering the premises. Just weeks later, on 24 September, a shop worker faced verbal abuse while stepping in to stop another theft at the same location.
Suspect Nabbed After Co-op Confectionery Swipe
Police swooped on 25 September after the town’s neighbourhood task force responded to a stolen sweets incident at the Co-op on Loose Road. They arrested Joseph Daniels, 38, from College Road, maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone.
Daniels now faces six counts of shoplifting, four counts of common assault, and a public order offence. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 28 September and was granted bail with strict conditions. His next hearing is set for 16 May 2024 at Maidstone Crown Court.
