Eastleigh Woman Charged with Assaulting Police After Disturbance
Hampshire cops have charged a woman with assaulting three officers during a response to a disturbance in Eastleigh. Jessica Louise Fay, 27, from Newtown Road, faces three counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
Charged After Clashing with Officers
Fay appeared at Southampton Magistrates Court on 23 October. She was remanded on bail until 2 December 2020, while investigations continue. The charges stem from a domestic incident where police were called to reports of a break-in and a man attacking a woman. The man reportedly fled the scene.
Fay Claims Police Used Excessive Force
Jessica Fay insists the police were the aggressors. She posted bruising photos on social media, alleging officers “kneeled on my neck for 5 minutes” and left her “bruised from head to toe.”
“Just another case of the police using their power to hurt civilians in unnecessary ways,” Fay said.
“Two sides to every story: The police’s version is never the full truth. They came to ‘SAVE’ me but instead battered me. Look at my whole body. A kick to the shin is assault.”
Police Launch Internal Review
Hampshire Police’s Professional Standards Department will review the officers’ conduct. They are examining body camera footage and the use of control and restraint during Fay’s detention.
The case raises fresh questions about police tactics when dealing with domestic incidents. The full investigation will reveal whether force was justified or excessive.
