Five Men Jailed Over Loaded Guns Found in East London Car

Five men were locked up for seven years each after police snagged two loaded semi-automatic firearms from a vehicle in East London. The sentence, handed down at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 18 September, totals 35 years behind bars.

Armoured Police Chase Ends with Arrests

The drama unfolded on the evening of 11 February 2019. Armed officers tried to stop a silver Vauxhall Astra in Ewhurst Close, E1, during a targeted operation. The five men inside bailed out and legged it, leaving the engine running. One was caught red-handed tossing a loaded gun.

  • Charles Junior Frimpong, 23, Pinner Park Gardens, Harrow
  • Riccardo Christophe, 29, Albion Road, Hackney
  • Abdul Noor, 23, Crystal Way, Dagenham
  • Korey Lawrence, 25, Bethune Road, Hackney
  • Jahvon Robinson, 22, Manchester Road, Tower Hamlets

Frimpong, Lawrence, and Noor were quickly nabbed at the scene. Christophe got away initially but handed himself in hours later, confessing he was behind the wheel. Robinson was identified and arrested in April after further detective work.

Loaded Guns and Gear Discovered

Police found two modified 8mm semi-automatic handguns — one stuffed in a rucksack on the front seat, the other dumped nearby. Both were loaded; one even had the hammer cocked, ready to fire. They also uncovered a balaclava and a box of latex gloves, suggesting a nasty business was planned.

Detectives Slam Violent Crime and Firearm Offenders

“Firearms have absolutely no place on our streets,” said Detective Inspector Glenn Butler of Specialist Crime. “I hope this sentence sends a clear message to anyone thinking of carrying guns that the Met will get you.”

“These guns could have caused serious or fatal injuries. Thanks to quick police action, tragedy was averted.”

“Tackling violent crime remains our top priority. Even in tough times, we are relentless in hunting down offenders and taking weapons off London’s streets.”

All five men were found guilty of conspiracy to possess firearms and ammunition on 4 March, sealing their fate with hefty jail terms.
