Shoplifter Jailed for 18 Weeks After £2,500 John Lewis Spree

A 35-year-old man has been locked up for 18 weeks after a brazen shoplifting spree at Southampton’s West Quay Shopping Centre.

Thomas Nathan Amos Caught Red-Handed

Thomas Nathan Amos, who has no fixed address, was found guilty of three counts of shop theft and one count of assault. The crimes happened between August 4 and August 9, 2021, targeting John Lewis in West Quay.

£2,500 Worth of Stolen Goods

Amos made off with items totalling over £2,500 on three separate occasions, Southampton Magistrates Court heard.

Judge Hands Down Tough Sentence

He was sentenced on August 17 to eight weeks behind bars and banned from all John Lewis stores in England until August 16, 2022. The court also activated a previous suspended sentence, adding ten more weeks to run consecutively.

Altogether, Amos faces 18 weeks in prison for his crime spree.
