Over 30 Charged in Crackdown on London Disorder

Police are cracking down hard on anyone stirring violence, hate, and chaos across London. Teams are hitting faith and community venues to hear residents’ concerns and keep calm on the streets.

Dozens Pursued Over Antisocial Behaviour

More than 30 people now face charges linked to recent disorder in hotspots like Walthamstow, Hounslow, Croydon, and Whitehall.

  • 4 charged after Walthamstow and Hounslow clashes on August 7, with offences including possession of offensive weapons, criminal damage, and assault on emergency workers.
  • 8 charged over violent disorder and failure to comply with dispersal orders in Croydon on the same night.
  • 21 charged following Whitehall disorder on July 31, accused of violent disorder, possession of offensive weapons, and Class A drugs offences.

Many suspects have already appeared in court, with more verdicts expected soon.

Senior Officers Vow Zero Tolerance

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said: “It’s been heartening to see communities unite this week. We won’t tolerate hate or intimidation. Over 30 people have been charged for their role in causing chaos. Anyone looking to disrupt will be caught and face justice. Officers will be out in your neighbourhoods this weekend — speak to them if you have concerns.”

Chief Crown Prosecutors Jaswant Narwal and Lionel Idan added: “We’re working with police in real-time to swiftly bring offenders to court. Anyone involved in disorder, hate crimes or social media offences will be prosecuted. We’re using a tough legal toolkit to ensure harsh penalties.”

Key Individuals Charged

Some of those charged for the events on Wednesday, 7 August include:

  • Ahmad Behbbod, Twickenham – possession of a pointed article, due at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on 23 August.
  • Patricyk Jarosinski, Lambeth – equipped to cause criminal damage in Croydon, appearing 9 August.
  • Sebastian Smith, Enfield – possession of offensive weapons in Walthamstow, appearing 9 August.
  • Silvia Gradinaru, no fixed address – possession of offensive weapons, Walthamstow, appearing 9 August.
  • Shoaib Sadat, Croydon – violent disorder, Croydon, appearing 9 August.
  • Several teenagers from Croydon and Wandsworth charged with failing to comply with dispersal orders and assaulting emergency workers.
  • A 17-year-old from Cricklewood charged with possession of a bladed article, appearing 8 August.

From the Whitehall disorder on 31 July, notable charges include:

  • Vincent Mullane, Romford – possession of Class A drugs, appearing 12 September.
  • Steven Abberley, Sutton – possession of multiple offensive weapons, appearing 1 August.
  • Kelly Wildego, Greenwich – assaulting emergency worker and harassment, appearing 16 August.
  • Craig Tunmore, Sutton – assaulting emergency worker, appearing 14 August.
  • John Hawkins, Bexley – racially aggravated harassment, appearing 16 August.
  • Ben Wilkes, Essex – violent disorder and racially aggravated harassment, appearing 9 August.
  • Multiple others charged with violent disorder, harassment, and failing to comply with assembly conditions.
