Three Arrested After Fatal Christmas Eve Crash in Buckhurst Hill
Three people have been arrested over a deadly collision in Buckhurst Hill that claimed the life of a woman in her 60s on Christmas Eve. Police are still hunting for witnesses and footage to piece together what happened.
The Fatal Incident
Just after 7:30am on Tuesday, December 24, emergency crews raced to Palmerston Road. A pedestrian had been hit by a grey Jaguar XJ. Paramedics tried desperately to save the female victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road stayed closed for hours as emergency services gathered evidence and cleared the wreckage.
Three Held on Suspicion of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving
Essex Police swooped on Monday, December 30, arresting three suspects connected to the tragedy:
- A 20-year-old man from Loughton
- A 17-year-old boy from Dagenham
- A 16-year-old boy from Chingford
All face charges including causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. The 20-year-old is on bail until March 13, with the two teens bailed until March 14.
Police Plea for Witnesses and Footage
“My thoughts remain with the family of the woman who died, who are receiving specialist support,” said Detective Sergeant Sam Nason, lead investigator.
“We urgently need anyone who saw or has footage of a grey Jaguar XJ near Buckhurst Hill and Chingford on the morning of December 24 to come forward.”
