Teen Trio Charged After Machete Chase in Dagenham
Three teens have been charged following a violent incident in Dagenham on Wednesday, 4 March. Police rushed to Woodward Road at 3:25pm after witnesses saw a group of males chasing others, with at least one carrying a machete.
16-Year-Old Faces Serious Charges
A 16-year-old from Romford has been charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared at Barkingside Youth Court on Saturday, 7 March, and was remanded in custody ahead of his next hearing on Wednesday, 11 March.
Two More Teenagers Charged With Affray
- A 16-year-old from Ilford and a 17-year-old from Romford were both charged with affray.
- They appeared at Barkingside Youth Court on 7 March and were released on conditional bail.
- They will return to court on 11 March.
A 15-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has been bailed until early April pending further inquiries.
Police Crackdown on Gang Violence
The arrests follow a probe by the East Area Gangs Unit. Detective Chief Inspector Francis Copley warned: “This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated on our streets and it has been dealt with quickly and robustly by my officers.”
