Good Samaritan Battered in Maidstone Robbery Trap
A kind-hearted man was violently attacked in Maidstone after falling for a nasty trap. A woman pretending to be in distress lured him in, only for him to be chased, beaten, and threatened with death if he resisted.
Victim Lured and Ambushed on Old Tovil Road
The attack happened in the early hours of January 2, 2024, on Old Tovil Road. The victim came across a woman pleading for help at the corner of Hayle Road. When he tried to assist, she suddenly grabbed his hand. Two men swiftly appeared, turning the situation into a nightmare.
The victim tried to flee but was caught, thrown to the ground, and savagely beaten and kicked. The thugs threatened him with what’s believed to be a knife, before stealing his phone and wallet. He suffered multiple injuries, including a broken nose and nasty bruises.
Three Jailed After Swift Police Crackdown
Thanks to a rapid police investigation, suspects were tracked down and arrested. Danas Ambrazevicius, Abigail Dearlove, and Charlie Rider were brought to justice.
- Danas Ambrazevicius, 41, of no fixed address, denied robbery but was found guilty and jailed for three years and eight months on September 27.
- Abigail Dearlove, 35, also of no fixed address, denied robbery but was convicted and handed a five-year, four-month sentence, which included drug offences.
- Charlie Rider, 26, pleaded guilty to robbery and other charges including assaulting emergency workers with a corrosive substance during a separate incident. He was sentenced to three years and three months.
Detective Slams ‘Cowardly’ Attack Exploiting Goodwill
“This robbery was clearly planned, with Dearlove playing the role of a vulnerable woman seeking urgent help,” said Detective Constable Rosie Acton. “The victim’s natural concern and goodwill were callously exploited, leading to a cowardly attack by people who heavily outnumbered him.”
“Dearlove continued shouting demands while the victim was held down. Robbery offences are rare in Maidstone, but when they do happen, the impact on victims is profound and long-lasting. I hope this victim feels reassured now that justice has been served.”
