Shoplifting Spree Hits Folkestone: Trio Face Multiple Charges

A trio of shoplifters have been hauled before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court over a string of thefts targeting local supermarkets and petrol stations.

David Jones Nabbed with Nine Theft Counts

David Jones, 33, with no fixed address, was charged on Saturday 8 January 2022 with nine counts of shoplifting. His haul included Champagne, cosmetics, baby clothes, and meat stolen between 12 November 2021 and 6 January 2022 across the district.

Two Others Caught Stealing Too

  • George Phillips, 37, also homeless, faces six theft charges linked to crimes between 27 December and 7 January.
  • Lydia Horner, 36, from Victoria Grove, Folkestone, was hit with five shoplifting counts for offences between 27 and 30 December.

Jones was additionally charged with driving without a valid licence in Cheriton on 7 January.

Next Court Date Set

All three appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 10 January. Horner was granted bail. The case is scheduled to continue on 19 January.
