Fisherman Max Maguire Stabbed to Death Outside Lymington Club
Max Maguire was fatally stabbed in October 2021 outside a nightclub in Lymington. The 21-year-old Draven Jewell was found guilty of manslaughter but cleared of murder in the shocking case.
Trial Drama at Winchester Crown Court
The court heard how a fight broke out after a row about Garon Jewell’s age and a nitrous oxide canister Draven brought to the club but refused to sell. The clash involved two groups, including Max and his friends Luke Gray and Ms Hole.
- Draven Jewell was found guilty of manslaughter for stabbing Max.
- He was acquitted of attempted murder over Luke Gray but convicted of wounding him.
- Jewell also wounded Ms Hole but faced dropped charges for a further assault.
- He admitted carrying a Huusk chef’s knife, the deadly weapon used in the attack.
- Garon Jewell, 19, was cleared of all charges after prosecution failed to present evidence.
Victims Suffer Serious Injuries
Luke Gray, 23, endured two severe stab wounds to his lower back that required urgent hospital care. Ms Hole, 23, was also stabbed in the chest but sustained less serious injuries.
“Max Maguire died within moments from a wound he received to the left side of his chest, a knife wound, this had penetrated his lung and damaged a major artery internally and caused catastrophic and non-survivable injuries,” said prosecutor Adam Feest QC.
Defense Claims Self-Protection
Draven Jewell told the court he acted in self-defence, fearing for his brother Garon’s life during the violent skirmish outside the club.
