Retired Man Jailed for Knife Attack on Woman
Kenneth Noble, 69, from Beehive Lane, Ferring, was sentenced to 16 years behind bars on Wednesday 29 June at Lewes Crown Court. He had earlier admitted to stabbing a 64-year-old woman he knew on 27 September last year.
Victim Survives Brutal Assault
The victim suffered three knife wounds to her neck and defensive injuries to her hands. She was rushed to hospital in critical condition but has since made a full recovery.
“This was an unprovoked and violent attack,” said Detective Constable Kat Wilkins, “but her cries were heard by a neighbour, who quickly called for help.”
Heroic Electricians Save the Day
Two nearby electricians showed incredible courage by wrestling the knife from Noble, stopping further bloodshed. They then restrained him using cable ties until police arrived.
Judge Christine Laing praised their actions: “Both displayed conspicuous bravery dealing with Mr Noble, who was armed with a knife. When confronted with danger, they ran towards it. The court, High Sheriff, and West Sussex County fully recognise their heroic deeds.
The brave men will each receive a £500 High Sheriff’s Award and will be invited to a public ceremony to honour their heroism.
Restraining Order Bans Contact for Life
Noble has also been hit with a lifelong restraining order banning any contact with his victim.
