Bradford Duo Jailed Over Clever Cocaine Smuggling Stunt
Two Bradford men hid a whopping 14 kilos of Class A cocaine inside a gas canister, fooling police with a device so clever it actually released real gas when turned. Alongside the stash, officers seized 250 grams of cannabis and a loaded pistol during a raid on 9 February last year.
Leaders of Drug Operation Sent Down
Faruk Miah, 44, from Cornwall Place, admitted possession with intent to supply both cocaine and cannabis. He was also found guilty by jury of carrying an 8mm semi-automatic pistol. Today at Bradford Crown Court, Miah was slammed with an 18-year prison sentence for his leading role in the slick drug operation.
Safraz Latif, 37, of Beacon Grove, was earlier found guilty of possession with intent to supply cocaine. The court heard he played a significant part in the criminal network and sentenced him to 11 years behind bars.

“This was a complex investigation involving sophisticated tactics by perpetrators to dodge detection,” said Detective Inspector Mark Atkinson of West Yorkshire Police’s Serious Organised Crime Unit.
“The heavy sentences send a strong message: the courts, police, and Crown Prosecution Service are united in keeping West Yorkshire safe.”
“Drug dealers beware — you will face the full force of the law.”
“We urge the public to report serious organised crime. All info is treated confidentially, and we’re committed to removing threats from our communities.”
