Ex-Police Cops Found Guilty of Gross Misconduct Over Shocking On-Duty Sex Scandal

Two former Devon and Cornwall police officers have been slammed for gross misconduct after a sordid on-duty scandal involving a marked police car.

PC Steven Athawes and PC Daria Krolewicz Exposed

Steven Athawes and Daria Krolewicz faced serious allegations over their actions on the night of 30 May into 31 May 2021. Had they still been serving, both would have been kicked out without notice.

  • Athawes was accused of planning to pick up off-duty Krolewicz with no policing reason — a blatant neglect of duty.
  • He allegedly engaged in sexual encounters with Krolewicz inside a marked police vehicle while on duty.
  • He also lied to colleagues, claiming he was on a medication run and unavailable for calls, when he was actually picking up Krolewicz.
  • Krolewicz was accused of knowingly taking part in the sexual acts with an on-duty officer in a police car.

Panel Slams Officers’ Conduct

Following a two-day public hearing, a misconduct panel ruled the pair guilty of breaching police standards for honesty, integrity, respect, and professional behaviour.

The panel confirmed that, if still in the force, they would have been dismissed immediately. Their details will now be placed on the College of Policing Barred List — shutting the door on any policing comeback.

The Dirty Duo Are Shut Out For Good

The verdict serves as a stark warning to officers that misconduct will not be tolerated — especially when it involves abusing trust on the job.
