Brutal Frencham Close Assault: Two Men Jailed
On 11 December 2023, a man was viciously attacked in Frencham Close, Canterbury. Two offenders kicked, punched, and battered him with a bat in a savage assault that shocked the community.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
South East Coast Ambulance Service quickly responded and treated the victim at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital for further medical care and was later discharged.
Charged and Sentenced: Justice Served
Investigating officers wasted no time charging the suspects. William Crump of Frencham Close and Lawrence Cole from Hersden were both charged in connection with the attack on 12 December 2023. Both men were known to the victim.
On 24 May 2024, Canterbury Crown Court sentenced Crump to two years and one month behind bars. Cole received one year and 11 months, including extra time for failing to attend court. Cole also pleaded guilty to three driving offences committed on the night of the assault.

Detective Constable Paul Sharp said: “These violent offenders subjected their victim to a sustained and terrifying physical ordeal, the consequences of which could have been life-changing. We always strive to bring criminals before the courts and I hope the victim will have some closure knowing that Crump and Cole are now behind bars.”
