Two Men Arrested on Suspicion of Murder After 21-Year-Old Killed in Deptford

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old man in Deptford on Thursday night.

Police were called to Carteret Way at 10:35 pm on June 6 after reports of a stabbing. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the victim, now identified as Robert Robinson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination conducted on Saturday revealed that Mr Robinson died from “multiple incised wounds.”

Detectives have arrested two men in connection with the murder. One of the suspects, a 50-year-old man, has been released on bail pending further inquiries. The other suspect, a 44-year-old man, remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Neil Tovey, leading the investigation, described the incident as a “horrific crime committed by persons who chose to arm themselves with weapons and blight our communities.” He added, “A young man has died in brutal circumstances and his family are grieving.

DI Tovey emphasized the importance of community assistance in solving the crime. “We need to piece together the events which led to the attack on Robert. The incident took place on a residential street, Carteret Way, at a time when many people were likely to have been at home. I believe the local community holds the key to solving this crime, and any information, no matter how small, may assist us in obtaining justice for Robert’s family.

Police have set up an online portal for witnesses to upload videos or images related to the incident. Contributions can be made anonymously if preferred.
