Two Men Arrested Over Shocking Assaults on Brighton Beach
Brighton is reeling after two young women reported terrifying assaults near the iconic Sea Life Centre. The attacks happened in the early hours of Sunday, 24 September, sparking a police crackdown and multiple arrests.
Brave Victims Speak Out
One woman, in her late teens, came forward saying she was raped on the promenade just after midnight. Another woman, also in her late teens, reported a sexual assault on the nearby beach around the same time. Their courage has been crucial in moving the investigation forward.
Suspects Held in Custody
- Altaib Hamed, 25, from Lewes Road, Brighton, has been charged with rape.
- Bader Saleh, 23, of Percival Terrace, Brighton, faces sexual assault charges.
Both men remain in custody as police prepare to bring them to trial.
Police Praise Victims, Warn the Public
Detective Chief Inspector Luke Kyriakides-Yeldham applauded the women’s bravery. He said their statements have been vital in catching the suspects. “We are fully committed to making Brighton and Hove a safe place for women and girls,” he said, emphasizing zero tolerance for offenders.
DCI Kyriakides-Yeldham urged anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour or is a victim to report it immediately. “If you’re out at night and see something off, don’t hesitate—contact police or security staff. In emergencies, dial 999 or use 101 to report online,” he added.
