Unlicensed Bouncers Caught at Haverfordwest Nightspot!

Illegal Security Drama Unfolds at Local Bar

Tristan Edwards and Daniel Cope faced Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on May 4 after police uncovered a dodgy security operation at a popular bar in April 2022. The 1 bar was caught using unlicensed security staff, sparking concerns about public safety during a night-time scuffle.

Police Crackdown Reveals Shocking License Failures

During surprise checks, officers found Edwards working without a valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) license—his had expired back in May 2018. Edwards claimed his license had been destroyed in previous fights. Meanwhile, Cope was caught working under a lapsed license that expired in December 2020. Both men blatantly broke the rules, putting venue visitors at risk.

Fines, Costs, and Criminal Records for Unlicensed Guards

On November 25, 2022, SIA investigators teamed up with Dyfed Powys Police to gather CCTV evidence from the venue. Edwards and Cope were interviewed under caution—with Cope admitting guilt while Edwards stayed silent. The court handed Edwards a £400 fine, £250 in costs, and a £160 victim surcharge. Cope was fined £120, with £250 prosecution costs and a £48 surcharge. Both now have criminal records—hardly a badge of honour.

SIA Calls for Vigilance to Keep Nightlife Safe

Nicola Bolton, a criminal investigations manager at the SIA, slammed the duo’s reckless actions: “Working illegally in security risks public safety. Their failure to renew licenses compromises everyone in busy venues.”

Bolton praised police for cracking down and keeping Cardigan’s nightlife safe from unqualified bouncers.

This case is a stark warning—security staff must be properly licensed and trained to protect the public and themselves in the night-time economy.
