Masked Men Caught Red-Handed with Guns and Ammo in Manchester
Tyrese Walker and John Dobson, both from Crumpsall, have been slammed with hefty prison sentences after being caught armed on the streets of Manchester.
Six Years and Five Months Behind Bars
Walker, of Peakdale Avenue, and Dobson, of Delaunays Road, each received six years and five months for two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, carrying a firearm without a certificate, and holding prohibited ammunition without a certificate. The sentence was handed down today at Manchester Crown Court.
Police Act Fast After Armed Men Spotted
- Reports of armed males on Ingelton Avenue/Cleveland Road came in at 2:05 pm on Friday, August 27, 2021.
- Officers quickly traced Walker, matching the description of one suspect seen leaving a nearby business.
- Walker was searched, and a holdall with three firearms and loads of ammo was found.
- Close CCTV review showed Dobson handing over the holdall before the pair walked off together—Walker armed with a handgun, Dobson with a knife.
DNA Evidence Seals Their Fate
Forensic tests confirmed both men’s DNA on two of the guns. Detective Inspector Roger Smethurst said:
“Both Walker and Dobson posed a real threat to life that day with the weapons in their possession.”
He added this conviction will strengthen public confidence in Greater Manchester Police’s efforts to tackle crime and keep communities safe.
