Brutal Wiveliscombe Attack Claims Life of Jason Lock

Two Men Jailed for Manslaughter

Daniel Bond, 34, and Lee Conlon, 37, both from Weston-super-Mare, have been locked up for their roles in the fatal attack on Jason Lock. Bond was sentenced to seven years and eight months, while Conlon received six years and four months behind bars after pleading guilty to manslaughter.

Shocking Assault in Front of Partner

Jason Lock, 55, tragically died in hospital following a savage assault at his home in Stockers Close, Wiveliscombe, on 17 May. The attack unfolded in front of his partner Mandy, who has since been left devastated.

Court heard how both Bond and Conlon repeatedly punched Jason before Bond landed a crushing blow that knocked him unconscious. Jason later died from head injuries sustained during the attack.

Judge Condemns “Sustained Attack”

Sentencing, Judge Hart described the assault as a “sustained attack” and condemned the tragedy as “something that should never have happened.”

Heartbroken Partner Pays Tribute

Mandy Lock’s emotional tribute earlier this year described Jason as her “best friend and lover” — “kind, hardworking and always ready to help others.” She said she is “lost without him.”

“Jason was not fighting back, Jason was a peacemaker not a fighter. I cannot explain how it feels to have the person you love ripped away… in front of your eyes.

“Just trying to function every day feels completely unnatural. Every time I step outside my house I am reminded of what happened as it happened right on my doorstep. It’s just so painful.”

Third Person Denies Charges

Laura Lockyer, 32, of Wiveliscombe, appeared at Taunton Deane Magistrates’ Court on 3 November charged with assault and a public order offence linked to the same incident. She has denied the charges and was released on unconditional bail, with a court hearing set for 27 January 2023.
